Figure16.  Buffalo Pass ISA, view to the north. The red boundary is a very rough approximation of the ISA boundaries. The NRCS "Tower" SNOTEL site is marked by the red arrow. This area often develops some of the deepest snow packs in Colorado. The orientation of the forest bands is roughly orthogonal to westerly winds, which likely helps reduce snow losses to wind redistribution.
