6. GIS DATA SETS
A large number of geo-spatial data sets exist for the
experiment study area. These include a variety of geophysical variables
such as elevation, soils, hydrography, land use, and vegetation data, as
well as a variety of "logistical" data sets, such as transportation, hospitals,
and station locations for various measurement networks. Many of these GIS
data sets have been collected to assist with experiment planning. A CD-ROM
containing a CLPX Digital Atlas in ArcView format was prepared and distributed
to the CLPWG (and on the web) in June of 2000. The Digital Atlas will be
updated with finalized study area boundaries and new data sets prior to
the experiment.
6.1. CLPX DIGITAL ATLAS (ARCVIEW)
The CLPX Digital Atlas is a compilation of spatial data sets (currently) for the Small-Regional Study Area. The Digital Atlas is in ArcView GIS format. An ArcView project is the primary method for viewing the geographic data. The Spatial Analysts extension for ArcView is required to view the atlas. The Digital Atlas v1.0 is available on the Cold Land Processes web site at: http://www.nohrsc.nws.gov/~cline/clp.html.
All data sets in the atlas are geo-registered. Data sets in the atlas include:
